Religious Programs

Mr. Hershey understood that the spiritual lives of students must be cared for in addition to their other needs. According to the School's Deed of Trust, the Hersheys wanted, "each child to explore belief in God and in prayer." For that reason, education in the Judeo-Christian faith, the heritage of the School's founders, is part of the MHS program. The School encourages students to learn to love God and others, to give service to their community, and to live a morally upright life.

Students are required to attend a weekly Chapel Service on Sunday mornings. In this service, the moral building blocks of ethical behavior are presented. Parents/sponsors are invited to attend the Chapel Service when they are on campus. The hour-long service includes a Junior Chapel program for younger students. Middle and Senior Division students also may volunteer to help with the Junior Chapel program. Additionally, a devotional program in the student home serves to impart a spiritual thought or truth into the lives of students each day.

An optional opportunity for students is the Off-Campus Worship (OCW) program. Students may attend a church within the Hershey area with the signed permission of their parent/sponsor. This attendance does not take the place of, but enhances the School's Sunday morning chapel service.
