Year Round Experience
Year-Round Experience (YRE) is based on the philosophy that learning and development happens all year long in both traditional and non-traditional classrooms. The Milton Hershey School® program provides a consistent experience throughout the year – even during school vacation breaks and summer months – in a safe and nurturing environment.
The first six weeks following the end of the school year are "student choice" weeks, with the exception of summer school, which is indicated by the school principals and communicated to parent/sponsors. Students who are not involved in summer school, have the choice to go home for all or part of their summer vacation. If they choose to remain on campus, there are a variety of fun and educational activities to chose from each week. Registrations are sent to parent/sponsors in late February to mid March.
Students return to campus two weeks before the first day of classes in August to prepare for the new school year, begin fall practices, and participate in various activities.
