High School Program
The high school, Senior Hall, includes a number of educational facilities, encompasses grades nine through twelve. It is the final stage of preparation for a fulfilling and productive life after graduation.
Senior Hall is located within the Spartan Commons near Founders Hall. Classes are conducted in a team setting within a block schedule. Students will utilize not only the classrooms and the career/technical areas within Senior Hall, they also will have health, physical education, art, music, and other subjects in other campus Spartan Center buildings.
Students have use of the Learning Resource Center which contains over 47,000 volumes. Daily newspapers are received and periodicals are available on a wide variety of subjects and topics for student use. The LRC also offers students electronic databases for research, data ports and wireless access for student laptop computers, classroom software, a video-on-demand service, robotics, and a distance learning computer lab.
At the high school level, co-curricular activities play a big role, as do co-op work experiences, internships, and shadowing experiences.
High school students pursue rigorous academic studies. Additionally, beginning in 9th grade, all high school students must choose one of the following career/technical pathways in which to specialize: Agriculture & Natural Resources, Automotive Technologies, Business Careers & Technologies, Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) and Architecture, Computer Information Systems, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Graphic Communication Technologies, Health Occupations, and Video Communications.
This means that when students graduate, they will have skills that enable them to enter a meaningful career field and have the academic foundation necessary to continue on to a college, career, or technical school after graduation from Milton Hershey School.
Self-sufficiency skills and preparation for living independently are major parts of the Senior Division experience. The Transitional Living program provides an opportunity for students to "try out" living on their own with the safe and supportive environment of Milton Hershey School.
