Milton Hershey School® is dedicated to providing its students with a safe and supportive environment in which to live and learn. Milton Hershey School respects the needs and personal integrity of all students, and aims to provide programs that enable each student to develop physically, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and socially. To ensure these values, both students and adults are encouraged to assume responsibility for their own behavior, both as it affects the achievement of their personal goals, as well as in terms of its effect on the lives of others. One of the goals of Milton Hershey School is to provide students with opportunities to develop the skills necessary to live both independently and as members of a group.
In creating Milton Hershey School, Milton and Catherine Hershey went to great lengths to make sure that every student attending this School would have no reason to have his or her energy and enthusiasm diverted from the educational, cultural, and religious programs of the School because of personal discomfort or deprivation. In order to maintain a positive environment, each student will be held responsible for both his or her personal conduct and for being a positive role model for his or her peers.
