Step 1: Application for Admission

Complete all parts of the Application for Admission.

The parent or legal guardian needs to sign the Application for Admission and the School Information Form. Mail the completed Application for Admission along with the requested paperwork (listed on back of application) to:

Step 2: School Information Form

Take the signed School Information Form to your child's school. The school will complete the form and send it directly to Milton Hershey School.

What happens next?

Your child's Application for Admission will be reviewed and if basic qualifications are met, you will receive a letter requesting additional documentation, such as a copy of your child's birth certificate. You may receive a phone call and an invitation to visit the School for an interview and a tour.

Selection Decisions

Since there are many more applicants than spaces available, the school emphasizes potential to benefit from the MHS program, low income, and age-appropriate behavior in student selections. Enrollment is not guaranteed. If no spaces are open or if a child does not qualify, the parent or sponsor will be informed by mail.

Preference Area

In accordance with the school's Deed of Trust, children born in Dauphin, Lancaster, or Lebanon counties in Pennsylvania and children from the rest of Pennsylvania are given preference over children from other states.

When Can You Enroll?

Our largest enrollment periods are in August, September and January. We enroll smaller numbers of children — if space is available — in other months of the year. Students accepted for August enrollment will be notified between May and July.

New students, along with their parents and sponsors, participate in an orientation program following selection. All new students also will participate in a more extensive orientation program after enrollment, but prior to the beginning of their classes.
