A Top-Notch Education Since 1909
At Milton Hershey School, your dreams for a child's future can come true. From the very beginning, the school has dedicated its resources to maximizing the potential of children in financial need, providing every imaginable resource along with world-class facilities, highly-trained staff, and a premiere education.
Throughout its 100-plus year history, MHS has held true to its original mission of helping more than 18,000 children grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually.
Enrolling your child at Milton Hershey School is a big decision. We understand it may be a tough decision. However, it’s a decision that will open new doors and provide new opportunities for your child’s future.
We believe that a child's access to a top-notch education should never be based on the family's income, because every child deserves the very best. At Milton Hershey School, we want to help you with that decision—by sharing with you as much as we can about what we do and our personal dedication to each and every child’s success and well being.
Imagine a school community where children receive:
- A high-quality education with individualized attention
- Access to excellent athletic, recreational, and arts facilities
- A home away from home in a nurturing, family-like student home
- Medical and dental care
- Assistance with college funding after graduation
- AP classes and opportunities to earn college credits while still in high school
- Small class sizes every year, without fluctuations public schools often experience
- Hands-on learning opportunities
- State-of-the-art technology
- After-school activities guided by professionals
Now, imagine that all of these things come at no cost to the children's families. That's what Milton Hershey School is all about - partnering with families to bring out the best in their child.

There are a lot of places to send my child. Why Milton Hershey School?
How does the residential aspect work?
The students live in a home environment with 8-12 other students and experienced houseparents to provide guidance, structure, and support. Children are enrolled at the school year round, but travel home for holidays, family activities, and summer vacation. We also have activities on campus where families are welcome!
